All our work is printed on the recently launched (May 2005) state of the art Epson 9800 wide format printer. This ink jet printer uses 8 different inks to render images of the very highest quality currently available on the digital fine art ink jet market. We use advanced Epson Ultra Chrome K3 Archival Pigment inks printing our images on a fine matte waterproof canvas.
2) Will my print look exactly like the one I see on my screen?
Because every monitor displays colours differently, and because colour displayed on a monitor is fundamentally different to colour produced by ink, it's impossible to ensure that your print will look exactly like the version you see on your monitor.
However, our printing process is colour-managed from start to finish, using advanced monitor calibration techniques and bespoke custom printer profiles to ensure that our colours are rendered accurately and consistently every single time. We can also send you test proofs in the post for you to approve before we print your finished image.
3) How lightfast are your prints?
Our art is printed using the very latest and most advanced ink technology from Epson which provides light fastness ratings of up to 108 years for colour and over 200 years for black and white. In practice however, the conditions under which our prints are displayed will vary and hence so will their light fastness.
As an extra precaution, we apply two coats of liquid laminate to our art to enhance UV protection and guard against scuffs and scrapes. This should result in at least 60 years of light fastness under normal light conditions.
We use an ultra-high quality 100% cotton artists canvas. It is water resistant, singl-sided, matte and flexible to ensure no cracking around the edges.
5) How do I care for my print?
We include detailed care instructions with every one of our pieces. Like any work of art, our prints should be handled with care. Ensure your hands are clean and dry before handling. Grip only at the edges, trying to ensure minimum contact with the print at all times. To clean, simply dust gently with a soft dry cloth or duster. Do not use a wet cloth.
6) What file size should my digital image be?
There is no minimum file size required - we can work with most file sizes, although obviously the bigger the file, the higher quality the image. We can even accept images taken on mobile phones. All our images are re-sampled in order to boost the pixel data in the image so we can output the image to bigger sizes without noticeable loss of quality.
Unless you indicate otherwise, we may crop your image in order to produce the best possible image for your chosen size.
8) Can I see a proof of my canvas to approve it?
Yes. We can produce a test print of your image, which we can post to you for approval. If you prefer we can send you a soft proof via e-mail although we recommend the hard copy proof so you can see the inks on canvas. Should you wish to make further amends to your proof, further test prints are charged at €10 each. For Warhol, Lich-Style and most Funky style prints, the preview is for viewing purposes only and cannot be changed. Therefore you should ensure that you are completely happy with the image you supply to us before we start work. If you do want to make changes or supply a new photo you will be charged the cost of your chosen style again.
9) What is the best way to supply my image to you?
We accept hard copy prints and negatives. Digital format can be supplied via the Image Submit tool on our website, on CD, by e-mail or via an FTP website such as www.wesendit.com. All hard-copy images will be returned to you with your finished order.
10) Do I need to hold the copyright of the image?
Yes. We can only produce Personalised Art from images in which you hold the copyright. Alternatively, you must obtain the consent of the copyright holder and confirm to us in writing that you have done so.
11) Can I pick different sizes?
Yes. We can create bespoke sizes for you but this will mean ordering in bespoke stretcher bars and hence will take longer. Bespoke sizes are quoted individually.
12) What payment methods are accepted?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Laser and cheques which should be made payable to The Canvas Works.
13) Can I pay on completion or must I pay in advance?
We request full payment in advance, however this does not affect your statutory rights.
